Released in 1975 the Instant Flanger is responsible for some of my favourite modulation effects ever. Tony Visconti used one to create the distinctive piano sound on David Bowie's Ashes To Ashes (serendipity in action - he was trying to make the Wurlitzer piano into a stereo signal when the magic happened!). Then there's Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti album which is probably the Instant Flanger's finest hour.
