Studer A812 Reel to Reel Tape Machine
Studer A812 Reel to Reel Tape Machine for sale in working order but further work still required for future reliablity: the price reflects this.
Has been checked over by our reel to reel tech: his notes are below. He can quote for additional work if required.
"The machine works ok and I have lined-up the tensions as part of the repair. But I have not lined the audio up for any tape [needs to be correct for buyer's choice of tape] it records and replays ok at all three speeds.
Its pinch roller is fine but I'd recommend a head relap by the purchaser, but I feel that it is to be expected.
I have cleaned it and repaired the headphone socket.
The fault was down to failed caps on one of the transport boards. I am afraid this is the third A812 I have had in this year with cap failures. I assume the Philips caps they used in the mid-1980s to build them are starting to fail. Currently your machine runs ok but like the head relap a re-cap is something a purchaser should expect to have done at some point in ownership.
